This page
is designed to give you an example as to how our Custom Travel Planning
itineraries are presented.
Please note
that what follows is meant to be an example of the STYLE of itinerary that we
will produce, it is not necessarily exactly what your planner will suggest for the
Adelaide and Kangaroo Island Areas.
Your full
itinerary will be set up from scratch and will, reflect exactly what you want
from your trip.
Read
through what follows. It will give you a very good "feel" for the
itinerary we will produce for your trip. Please note that this is only a 4- day
"snapshot" of the style of the itinerary we will present for your consideration.
Day
1.
Flight from Adelaide to Kangaroo
Island - Included.
Transfer
from Airport to Accommodation – Included.
Accommodation
is included on Kangaroo Island. All
rooms have unlimited and spectacular ocean, coastal and rural views. The three spacious guest suites are
ideal for those looking for luxury, peace and privacy.

Private
Evening Wildlife and Penguin Experience - Included.
The
tour begins at about sundown. You
will be taken out into the nighttime environment of the Australian Bush to see
wildlife in its natural state.
The
evening will start with a visit to the Fairy Penguin Rookery at Emu Bay Beach
to see the birds come ashore after a long day in the ocean, followed by a
session studying the stars of the Southern Skies.
Here
is your chance to see the Southern Cross well away from the ground light of
major population centers. Then
spend some time with the spotlights looking for Kangaroos, Wallabies and
Possums. Occasionally Echidnas, Owls and bats are sighted. The duration of the trip is about one
hour.
Dinner
is included at your accommodation.
Day
2.
Private
Full Day Wildlife Experience on Kangaroo Island - Lunch Included.
Travel
overland to the Flinders Chase National Park, a 190,000 acre wilderness area
covering the entire western end of the Island. The park is an unspoilt and
diverse home to a wide variety of plants and animals, some unique to Kangaroo
Island itself.
You
will visit Rocky River Homestead, originally a small farm and now the National
Park headquarters. This area is the winter breeding ground for the rare Cape
Barren Goose, a species with a world population of under 8,000 individuals, and
also to a lot of kangaroos, wallabies, emus, koalas, platypus and many species
of birds.
Then
it is on to Cape du Couedic on the south-west tip of the Island to visit a
furseal colony for a walk among the seals. Nearly hunted to extinction late
last century, this colony of over 4,000 seals is today thriving on being left
alone by man.
On
the headland above the beach is a beautiful example of the lighthouses that
dotted this coastline in earlier days, and it should be remembered that there
was no road access here before 1940 and life was tough...supplies came by sea
only every three months.
After
visiting the Remarkable Rocks and enjoying a picnic lunch in the bush, explore
more of the island and then return via Vivonne Bay, one of the breeding areas
of the little Fairy Penguin.
This
is an excellent day out in among the natural things of the island and among its
prolific wildlife. There will be the opportunity to see koalas in the trees,
kangaroos in the wild and a host of other wildlife. There will also be a chance to walk on the beach with
Australian Sea Lions.
Dinner
is included at your accommodation.
Day
3.
Transfer
from Accommodation to Airport - Included.
Flight
back to Adelaide - Included.
Private
Afternoon Adelaide City Tour - Included.
Your
guide will collect you from the airport for an afternoon exploring the Adelaide
City area. Your guide will tailor the time to suit your interests, and will be
pleased to advise on locations to visit as part of the day. You will be returned to your
accommodation at about 6.00pm.

Accommodation
is included at a centrally located apartment hotel on North Terrace that offers
contemporary, spacious units that enjoy the full services of a hotel.
There
is a heated indoor pool, fitness center, restaurant and bar. Laundry facilities are available in the
room.
Accommodation
in Adelaide should, in our opinion, be on North Terrace, and this hotel has a
ringside position, well located and with views and proximity to the riverfront
and the park
Day
4.
Private
Adelaide Wildlife Parks Tour - Included
You
will be collected for a full day tour to the Cleland Wildlife Park and Mt
Lofty. There are a number of
excellent wildlife parks in the Adelaide Hills Area, and today's trip will take
you out to the east of the City to this very picturesque area.
The
day will include visits to Mt Lofty, The Torrens Gorge, Hahndorf and the Mount
Barker District. Hahndorf is one
of South Australia's most popular tourist destinations, with many of the
historic German style buildings still standing. Many local artists and artisans work in a wide range of
crafts, carrying on the tradition of famous Australian artist, Sir Hans
Heysen. His home, "The
Cedars" is well preserved and shows a wonderful collection of his artwork.
His studio nearby, today just as the artist left it, is still surrounded by the
gum trees (eucalypts) that featured in many of his famous paintings. Return to
your accommodation will be at about 5.00pm. Lunch is included.

Accommodation
is included again in Adelaide.
Alternative / Additional visit
to the Barossa Valley.
Day
Trip to The Barossa Valley Wine Country - Included.
Your
small group tour will collect you from the airport on arrival for a day in the
Wine Country to the north of Adelaide.
The Barossa Valley is world renowned and is often compared to the Napa
Valley of California for its micro-climate.
The
Barossa has been influenced strongly by German settlers and has over 50
wineries, many of which are open to the public. The harvest is between March
and May though tastings and tours of vineyards and winemaking facilities are
available year round.
The
Barossa is without question the most famous of the Australian wine regions and
is a traveler?s delight with its strong German influence, stone buildings and
picturesque scenery.
It
is home to almost all of Australia's largest wine companies, the most notable
being Penfolds, Seppelt, Orlando, Leo Buring, Wolf Blass and Yalumba, along
with another thirty odd wineries of varying importance, including such well
known names as Krondorf, Peter Lehmann, Tollana, Saltram and Basedow.
The
valley-grown vintages are principally Riesling, Shiraz and Cabernet-Sauvignon,
while many wineries use grapes from outside sources as well in the production
of a wide range of other blends and varietals.
You
will be returned to your accommodation at about 6.00pm. Lunch is included.
We
are able to include other wine growing areas, or to completely omit viticulture
depending on your interests.
Your
complete, custom itinerary will present your trip in the style of the above.
We are
looking forward to working with you.
