Example Itinerary for Melbourne, Phillip Island and The Great Ocean Road.

This page is designed to give you an example as to how our Custom Travel Planning itineraries are presented.

Please note that what follows is meant to be an example of the STYLE of itinerary that we will produce, it is not necessarily exactly what your planner will suggest for the Melbourne Area.

Your full itinerary will be set up from scratch and will, reflect exactly what you want from your trip.

Read through what follows. It will give you a very good "feel" for the itinerary we will produce for your trip. Please note that this is only a three day "snapshot" of the style of the itinerary we will present for your consideration.

Day 1.

Meet and Greet and City Sights Orientation Tour - Included.

You will be met at the airport by your driver and taken on a tour of the Central City before checking in to your hotel.  You will drive past the Houses of Parliament, the Treasury Buildings, The Melbourne Cricket Ground , Albert Park with its outdoor cafes and cobbled streets, and the seaside suburbs of St. Kilda and Brighton, before swinging inland to the Maroondah Highway and back to the city via South Yarra and Toorak.  This will be a private tour and you will be dropped at your hotel at its conclusion.  Your driver will work with you to visit any additional  points of interest you might wish to include.

Melbourne City - Self Guided Walks - Information.

Melbourne is a wonderful city in which to walk, a city in which it is easy to navigate and which has excellent public transport services.

In these walks we will use Melbourne's trams (streetcars) and taxis (cabs) to cover longer distances and will cover the rest of the ground on foot.

Each of the excursions starts and ends in the geographical heart of the city...the corner Flinders and Swanston Streets, opposite the Flinders St Railway Station.

Our confirmed itinerary will give you details on how to catch the trams (streetcars) and taxis to get around like the locals.

Self Guided Walk (A suggestion any day) Chinatown, Museums, Italian Quarter, Markets, Swanston Street,

The Shrine and the Arts Center. Time required approximately 6 hours at an easy pace.

Turn right and walk along Little Bourke Street and the Chinatown area to the Museum, then up to the Old Melbourne Jail before heading to Lygon Street and the Italian quarter.

Catch a tram to the Shrine of Remembrance and the Arts Center before strolling back to the city center. Your confirmed itinerary will contain full instructions on how to take this interesting walking experience.

Melbourne's Queen Victoria Market - Information – Recommend any day?

For over a century, the collection of vast open-sided sheds and high roofed halls that is the Victoria Market has been a shopping mecca for the locals. Today, in an era where most shopping malls are indoor and air-conditioned, the Queen Victoria remains a real open air market, a link with the past and with shopping history. What continues to draw thousands of shoppers, locals and visitors alike, is the simple fact that you can buy just about anything at the market, and at prices that are just about the best in town. Directions and hours of operation will be in our confirmed itinerary.

Dinner On The Colonial Tramcar Restaurant – Dinner & Drinks Included.

Board the Colonial Tramcar Restaurant for dinner. The Tramcar covers a very scenic route around Central Melbourne and the experience of fine dining is one to be remembered. The meal is 5-Course and drinks are included.

This is a totally unique experience, and one that is not "touristy" at all...the quality of the food and its presentation are excellent (especially since you are on a tramcar!!) and the wines offered are of a fine standard to complement the meal.

The included accommodation is an all suites hotel situated right on the banks of the Yarra River in the heart of the Southbank Area.

This hotel offers amazing views of the city and is wonderfully located, being a short walk from good restaurants, the Concert Hall, Shrine of Remembrance, Flinders Street Station and the downtown area. This is an exceptional experience in accommodation in an excellent location. The suites feature in room laundry facilities and a modern, mini kitchen.

Day 2.

Small Group Yarra Valley, Dandenongs, Healesville & Wineries Trip – Tastings Included.

After collection from the hotel, travel east to the Dandenong Ranges, the southern part of the Great Dividing Range that runs north to south down the entire east coast of Australia. Here you will visit the Healesville Sanctuary for a truly Australian experience that will give you a real feel for many unique forms of wildlife.

Lunch will be at a local winery (own cost & selection) Includes private guide for the day, with options to visit more wineries, or spend more time viewing wildlife.

Restaurants in the Southgate and General Melbourne Area - Information.

The whole area of the Southgate complex is riddled with quality restaurants and pubs.  We will include suggestions for several in your confirmed itinerary.

Accommodation is included in our Package. Meals are own cost.

Fairy Penguins.

As an alternative, or as well as this day trip, we can also offer a small group trip to Phillip Island for fairy penguin viewing, that includes private viewing (away from the crowds and coach groups).

Day 3.

Private 12 Apostles - Shipwrecks & Wild Clifftops Tour - Included

This day trip journeys inland through rich volcanic plains to the Shipwreck Coast to the south and west of Melbourne. Sculptured cliffs merge with sea to form the 12 Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge, sites of Shipwrecks and stories of folly and bravery from the days when sailing ships were the only contact between Australia and the outside world.

Port Campbell National Park stretches along the Shipwreck Coast, providing a haven for wildlife including kangaroos and the endangered Rufous Bristlebird.  There will be the opportunity to walk with your guide in the cool temperate rainforest with 300 year old trees towering overhead. Lunch will be own cost, but suggested by your guide before returning inland to Melbourne through Otways forest and farmland. You will be back at the hotel by about 6.00pm.

Accommodation is included in our Package. Meals are own cost.

Your complete itinerary will present your trip in the style of the above.

We are looking forward to working with you.
