This page
is designed to give you an example as to how our Custom Travel Planning
itineraries are presented.
Please note
that what follows is meant to be an example of the STYLE of itinerary that we
will produce, it is not necessarily exactly what your planner will suggest for
Perth and Margaret River Area.
Your full
itinerary will be set up from scratch and will, reflect exactly what you want
from your trip.
Read
through what follows. It will give you a very good "feel" for the
itinerary we will produce for your trip. Please note that this is only a 3- day
"snapshot" of the style of the itinerary we will present for your
consideration.
Day 1.
The City
of Perth.
Perth is a
city of about 1.2 million people (there are only 1.7 million people in all of
Western Australia) and is by far the largest urban area on the west side of the
continent.
It is 4,172
Kms (2,500 miles) from Sydney to Perth and it is 2 hours behind Sydney time.
Built on the Swan River, some 20 Kms (12 miles) from the coast, Perth is a
modern city that takes a great deal of pride in its youth, independence and its
wonderful beaches and outdoors activities.

We will
give you details of attractions and suggestions as to how to get around the
city in our confirmed itinerary.
Rottnest Island.
Rottnest was first settled in 1830 by farmers and eight years
later was turned into a jail island for Aboriginals. In 1903 the jail was closed and the island began to be developed
as a tourist attraction. Rottnest Island is a nature reserve where all fauna
and flora are totally protected and the Island is characterised by the
distinctive Rottnest Tea Tree and the cypresses and a small native marsupial
quokka, after whom the Island is named.
It is essentially the unspoiled nature and beauty of the Island which
attracts visitors.

The hotel
we will include is located in the heart of the City, 22 Kms (13miles) from the
International Airport. This is a fine smaller boutique hotel where quality
staff and attention to detail have made its name synonymous with great service.
Day 2.
The
Pinnacles, Koalas, 4 Wheel Drive Sand Dune Adventure Tour - Included.
The trip is divided into two half
day adventures. You will leave Perth and travel north by air-conditioned 4
Wheel Drive vehicle to the Yanchep National Park, home to a colony of Koalas
(Koala Park Entrance is included). Here there will be time to enjoy the
experience of touching and photographing these marsupial icons of Australian
wildlife.
There will
be a short stop for morning tea (coffee) at your own expense before the trip
continues northwards to the small rock lobster fishing village of Cervantes. At
Cervantes there will be a tour of the village and a visit to Midwest Wildflowers
where a picnic lunch will be served (included) while you have the opportunity
to learn about and purchase Western Australian Dried Wildflower Arrangements.
Immediately
after lunch, you will join the 4 Wheel Drive vehicle to trek south into the
Nambung National Park and the Pinnacles Desert. The afternoon will be spent
traversing the unique landscapes of the deserted sandy beaches and sand dunes
that make up a lot of the coast of the area. Returning to Perth via Wedge
Island and Grass Tree Valley there will be an opportunity to view kangaroos and
emus in the wild as they come out to graze in the early evening. You will
arrive back in Perth at about 8.00pm.
Accommodation
is included in our package.
Day 3.
The Margaret
River Area – Self Drive Option – Rental Vehicle Included.
Leaving Perth, head south out of Fremantle towards Bunbury
and Margaret River. Some of
Australia's best wines are produced at Margaret River at over 50 local
vineyards and the region is famous for its excellent beaches and surf. The
Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park is worth inspection. The park extends some
distance along the coast and contains 28 different reserves. We will give you a
lot more detail and driving instruction in your confirmed itinerary. You should
allow about 4 hours for the drive.
Natural Attractions
of the Margaret River Area.
The drive along the length of caves road reveals a contrasting
outlook of pastoral land, vineyards and farms on the one hand, and pristine
coastal landscape on the other. Inland are the cultivated areas, while the
seaward side is given over to the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park, justly
famed for its wild caves, towering forests and striking coastline. The trees
here are among the world's tallest and the forest walks of the area are
splendid, especially in the early morning or late afternoon.
Many colorful parrots are to be found in the bush and springtime
brings a carpet of wildflowers and wild orchids, but the real experience is the
caves that interlace the whole length of the ridge between Caves Road and the
Indian Ocean. Jewel, Lake, Mammoth and Moondyne are perhaps the most impressive
of the caves and are open for guided tours year round. This is an ancient
landscape, and the caves are interesting testimonials to the forces of nature
and time combined.
The seascapes on the western side of the ridge are some of
Australia's most splendid, with rugged rocky bays, secluded white sandy beaches
and crystal clear waters. There is a great variety of coastal environment, from
the exposed westward coastline to the quieter waters of Geographe Bay in the
north and the Augusta River mouth in the south.
Our included accommodation is situated in the area just to the
north of Margaret River and has a choice of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom villas, of
contemporary Australian style architecture in an absolute beachfront
position. Boardwalks meander
throughout Australian native landscaped grounds and complementing natural bush.
Facilities include an onsite restaurant and Bar with al fresco
dining, a 25m wet edge heated lap pool, gymnasium and games room, beach cafe
for informal meals, games room, gym/health centre.
We are also able to include small group or private driver/guide
options if you prefer not to self-drive. If you like self drive exploration,
this is a good part of Australia in which to do it.
Your
complete, custom itinerary will present your trip in the style of the above.
We are
looking forward to working with you.
