Adelaide is an interesting place - set out on a plain bounded on the west by the ocean, and the east and south by the Adelaide Hills and the Southern Vales. Food, wine and culture are very important to the locals, and there is plenty of all three to be discovered in the city and surrounding areas.
About an hour's drive to the north of the city are the justly famous Barossa and Clare Valley Wine Areas. For those seriously interested in wines and the winemaking process we can include small group or private Driver / Guide options to visit lesser known boutique operations that are overlooked by the larger tour groups. Leisurely pace, interesting locals and upscale restaurant options make for an intriguing time of it. Neither do you have to worry about wine tasting and then driving yourself.
The Adelaide Hills area to the east of the city was settled in the mid to late 1800's, and many of the small towns and villages retain the charm of their Colonial Heritage. South of the Hills, and rolling to the ocean are the Southern Vales, an area reminiscent of Northern Italy - wine, great food, olive groves and vineyards in very pleasant countryside. An exceptional area in which to while away a day on a Small Group Experience or with your own Private Driver / Guide for personal exploration.
Kangaroo Island can be visited in a day trip, but it is a pretty rushed affair. Our preference is to make a leisurely one or two night trip of it to seriously appreciate the wealth of wildlife in the wild - Kangaroos, Koalas in the trees beside the road, Seal Colonies, a beach full of Sea Lions (you walk among them) and a host of smaller local wildlife including Fairy Penguins.
Accommodation options vary on the Island, and can match your travel style with the perfect property.
