Uluru, or Ayers Rock, is a huge sandstone monolith jutting out of the sands of the Red Centre of Australia. It is truly awesome, particularly at sunrise and sunset. It is a 3 hour flight from Sydney to Uluru, and you will need to arrange Uluru Tours and Activities to see the area effectively.
Accommodation and Hotels at Uluru (Ayers Rock) are found at Yulara, some distance from the Rock itself.

The Red Centre of Australia
Uluru (Ayers Rock) is the main focus of the wild, wide, hot and barren Red Centre of Australia. It is not until you have visited and actually felt the sounds of silence that you can really appreciate the awesome time, space and distance of the Australian Outback.

Kata Tjuta (The Olgas)
If you look to the left of Uluru (Ayers Rock) you will see the domes of Kata Tjuta (The Olgas), some 45 Kms (30 miles) out in the desert. A Helicopter Tour of the area is a great way to see Uluru (Ayers Rock), Kata Tjuta (The Olgas), and the expanse of the Red Centre of Australia from the air.
