26 December - Boxing Day
One of the greatest challenges on the international yachting calendar is the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, a 650 nautical mile journey down the coast of Australia, across Bass Strait and on to Hobart, Tasmania.
The fleet of racers crosses the start line in Sydney Harbour and then sprints towards the Sydney Heads, where the harbour becomes the open ocean. This is one of the most spectacular yachting sights in the world.
You can charter your own yacht to enjoy the start at water level, or join a skippered charter including a snack lunch onboard. The crew will closely follow the racing yachts to the Heads and then sail back down the harbour enjoying the activity and scenery. |
31 December - New Year's Eve
New Year's Eve on Sydney Harbour is a truly awesome and unforgettable experience. Yachts are available for individuals and small groups, as well as a scheduled departure from 6.00pm to 1.00am, including gourmet finger food and soft drinks (bring your own alcohol). |
| Your yacht has the advantage of being able to view the fireworks from a commercial vessel exclusion zone which provides clear and unrestricted views of the activities. Fireworks are set off at 9.00pm, and again with the full display at midnight. Obviously, this experience sells out early and you should make your booking as far in advance as possible if you wish to ensure a seat. |

26 January - Australia Day
Sydney Harbour is the focal point for Australia Day celebrations each year and is the venue for a full program of events including the annual Tall Ships Race, Ferry Races, the Flags Afloat Parade and Jazz on the Water. You can charter a yacht and crew for the day or for the nighttime Jazz Band Spectacular, followed by the Australia Day fireworks. This is the quintessential Australian, and Sydney experience.
