The Sail company is a Yachting Australia Training Centre. They are accredited to teach courses that comprise the National Yacht Cruising Scheme.
The courses begin with the Introductory Level which covers the basics of sailing. Next is the Competent Crew course which builds your skills. The Competent Crew Package a value for money way of obtaining your certificate. After that is the Skipper Course level whereby you take control of your own yacht within enclosed and inshore waters (less than 15 nautical miles from the coast) or consider the Skipper package which takes you from the beginning to a seasoned skipper. If you are reasonably competent and are looking to charter your own yacht in the Whitsunday Islands then our Bareboat Charter Course will teach you the bare essentials for a fun and safe holiday.
The Beginner & Competent Crew courses are conducted aboard a new Hunter 216, perfect for up to 4 students and the Instructor. Many sail training graduates have taken up sailing with a passion. Chris Argent started in 1998 and after having progressed through the sailing school can be seen regularly chartering a luxury yacht showcasing Sydney Harbour to clients or just mucking about with his buddies.
Warwick and Kate Hamilton, like Chris passed through the school in the late 1990's. The school began working with Warwick's Events company soon after and have been ever since. They decided to take the plunge into yacht ownership and purchased a new Hunter 33 and placed it in the charter fleet. From students to yacht owners!!
When Alison and Alan Day finished their Inshore Skipper course they bought a beautiful Moody 40ft yacht and are now sailing the world.
Fred Etter is now a highly sought after ocean racing crew member since he graduated.
