Getting to Phillip Island

It is about a two hours to drive from Melbourne City to Phillip Island. The penguins come ashore at sundown, so you will be driving back after dark. Zoom out on the Phillip Island Australian Travel Map to get the distances into focus. You will need to travel around Westernport bay through Lang Lang and cross the bridge at San Remo to get to Phillip Island.

Phillip Island Nature Park: This conservation park was opened by the Victorian Government in 1996. It concentrates on research of Australian wildlife. You will see it on the Phillip Island Australian Travel Map on the north as you come onto Phillip Island from San Remo.

The Nobbies Centre and the Penguin Parade: The Nobbies are a group of rocks jutting out into Bass Strait on the south western end of Phillip Island. Zoom in on the  Phillip Island Australian Travel Map and go right out onto the point to find it at the end of Ventnor Road. The Penguin Parade is held just to the east of the Nobbies Centre.

Koala Conservation Centre: Here is your chance to walk among the Koalas on the tree top walkway. The Koala Conservation Centre is at Cowes on the Phillip Island Tourist Road. If you are driving yourself, make sure to get the time in at the Nobbies and the Koala Conservation Centre during the afternoon so you have time to watch the penguins come ashore at sundown.
