Example
Itinerary for the Sydney Area
This page
is designed to give you an example as to how our Custom Travel Planning
itineraries are presented. Please note that what follows is meant to be an
example of the STYLE of itinerary that we will produce, it is not necessarily
exactly what your planner will suggest for Sydney.
Your full
itinerary will be set up from scratch and will, reflect exactly what you want
from your trip.
Read
through what follows. It will give you a very good "feel" for the
itinerary we will produce for your trip. Please note that this is only a 3- day
"snapshot" of the style of the itinerary we will present for your consideration.
Day 1.
City Sights
Orientation Tour - Included.
You will be
met on arrival at the Sydney Airport.
On the trip into the city, your driver / guide will take you on an
orientation tour of the city sights, including Circular Quay, the Opera House,
The Rocks, Mrs Macquarie's Chair, Darling Harbour and the inner southern
suburbs around Paddington and Double Bay.
You will then be dropped at your hotel for check-in.
Sydney
Opera House
From your
accommodation in the Rocks area, it is an easy walk around Circular Quay to
Benelong Point and the Sydney Opera House.
Guided tours of the Opera House are
run daily from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm (except Christmas Day and Good Friday) and are
of about one hours duration, depending on theatre availability. Our confirmed
itinerary will give you details as to how to get the program and make your own
reservations for a show at the Opera House if you so desire.
Sydney's
Royal Botanic Gardens and the Foreshore Walk to Mrs Macquarie's Chair.
A short
walk from circular Quay East, the Royal Botanic Gardens can be reached by
following the esplanade between the Opera House and Government House and
picking up one of the clearly marked paths. The Gardens are an extraordinary
oasis in the heart of Sydney and are well worth several hours leisurely stroll.
There are excellent views of the harbour itself and the walk provides a good
introductory view of the layout of the city.
By staying
on the foreshore walkway, you can enjoy the 20 minute stroll to Mrs Macquarie's
Chair, rated as one of the best urban walks in the world by a number of travel
writers. Our confirmed itinerary will have more detail.

The
Rocks.
The
Historic Rocks District is where the first settlement of Sydney began in 1789
and is a maze of interesting old buildings that have been wonderfully
preserved. This is the heart of historic Sydney and is well worth exploring on
foot.
Dinner
at the Waterfront Restaurant- Information.
From just
about anywhere in the Rocks area, one is drawn to the Campbell's Cove area,
right on the waterfront beside Circular Quay and under the shadow of the Sydney
Harbour Bridge. There are a number of excellent restaurants in the area and we
will give you information in your confirmed itinerary.
Accommodation is included at one of
the best located hotels in the Historic Rocks area of Sydney.
Circular
Quay, the Opera House and Darling Harbor are all just a short walk from the
Hotel and we feel this to be one of the better experiences in well-located
accommodation we have found.
Step out of
the front door and you are in the heart of the Historic Rocks District.
Accommodation
is included our package.
Day 2.
The
Gumnut Tea Garden.
Nestled
right in the heart of the Rocks is a splendid little garden restaurant that is
a wonderful spot for lunch or snacks. We will give you directions in your
confirmed itinerary.
Sydney
Harbour Ferry Cruises - Information.
Much of the
beauty and history of Sydney's spectacular harbour can be seen from public
ferry cruises that leave from Circular Quay. We will give you complete
instructions on how to ride the ferries like one of the locals in your
confirmed itinerary.
Manly
Ferry Trip - A Suggestion for Self-Guided Exploration.
The trip to
Manly on the regular scheduled harbour ferries is a great way to combine a trip
on the Sydney Harbour with a visit to one of Sydney's famous surf beaches.
Our
confirmed itinerary will have full detail as to how to take this extremely
pleasant morning or afternoon trip, one that gets you onto the sort of
transport that the locals use and takes you somewhat off the beaten tourist
track.

Sydney
Harbour Bridge Climb - Included.
The Sydney
Harbour Bridge was built in 1932, although it was 70 years before it was opened
for climbing.
This well
organized climb starts on the southeast pylon of the Bridge, and then climbs
across the arch to the summit, some 130 meters (400 feet) above the Sydney
Harbour. On reaching the top of
the Bridge, you have at your feet (literally) a spectacular 360 degree view of
the Harbour and the City. You can
certainly catch an elevator to the top of a building to get a view...but to
experience climbing to the top of the Bridge is something different!
The Bridge
Climb is a small group adventure.
You will be escorted by trained climb leaders in a group and will be
provided with a "bridge suit," communication equipment and
harness. You will be securely
connected to the bridge by a steel cable through the climb. There are also
handrails for support on most sections on the climb. There will be a comprehensive briefing and demonstration of
safety equipment prior to commencement of the 3 hour climb.
Bookings are essential to join the climb
and it will operate in all weather conditions with the exception of electrical
storms. Note:- If someone in your
party does not want to take part in the climb, we can offer optional walks over
the roadway span of the Bridge.

Cafe
Sydney Restaurant - Information.
Situated on
the roof of the Old Customs House at Circular Quay, this rooftop restaurant
offers spectacular views of the Bridge and the Quay. The food and service are excellent, with a price tag to
match. The wine list is extensive.
We found
this to be a wonderful restaurant experience, particularly on a fine evening. Your
confirmed itinerary will have contact details and information on hours, how to
make a reservation and contact details, along with our recommendations for
specific tables.
Accommodation
is included in our Package.
Day 3.
Private
Blue Mountains Day Tour - Included.
In this
full day exploration of the Blue Mountains to the west of Sydney, visit the
Three Sisters at Echo Point (the famous rock formation set in Aboriginal
legend), ride the world?s steepest railway and the Scenic Skyway, visit Jamison
Valley and walk through the serene rainforest. This is an opportunity to see
wild Kangaroos and Cockatoos in their natural habitat. From Kings Tableland see
amazing views of the Blue Mountains, and at Wentworth Falls take a peaceful
walk to the most breathtaking waterfalls in the area.

On the
drive back to the city, visit Olympic Park, home of the 2000 Olympic Games.
This will
be a full day (up to 9 hours) of Private Charter Sightseeing in luxury, quiet,
air-conditioned 4-Wheel-Drive Landcruisers with your host/guide. Lunch is
available at passenger?s own expense at one of a variety of country restaurants
noted for fine local food and quality Australian wines.
