Getting to Travel Destination Hunter Valley:
If you are driving yourself, head north from Sydney on Hwy#1 – it will go through some amazing bushland. If time, leave the main Highway and follow the coast through Gosford, the Entrance and Lake Macquarie and come into the Hunter Valley from Newcastle. Allow time to visit some of the small coastal towns on the way. If you take the coastal route, allow a full day.
Layout of Travel Destination Hunter Valley: Runing inland from Newcastle, the Hunter River drains the Hunter Valley and is a major center for both coal mining and fine wine production. It is also a premier thoroughbred horse breeding area. Travel Destination Hunter Valley is one of Australia’s most popular tourist destinations. Wine production is centered on Pokolbin, located between Cessnock and Branxton. If you like solid reds and whites that are full of flavour, the Shiraz, Semillon, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon wines of the Hunter will amaze you. Seriously into wine and food? Take time to explore the Hunter over several days. Accommodation varies from small B&B’s tucked away, to large resorts with golf, swimming pools and other recreational facilities.
