On arrival at Kingscote Airport on Kangaroo Island, you will be met and transferred to your accommodation.

Your accommodation is included on Kangaroo Island. Dinner is included at your accommodation.

Evening Wildlife and Penguin Experience.
The tour begins at about sundown.  You will be taken out into the nighttime environment of the Australian Bush to see wildlife in its natural state. The evening will start with a visit to the Fairy Penguin Rookery at Emu Bay Beach to see the birds come ashore after a long day in the ocean, followed by a session studying the stars of the Southern Skies.

Here is your chance to see the Southern Cross well away from the ground light of major population centers.  Then spend some time with the spotlights looking for Kangaroos, Wallabies and Possums. Occasionally Echidnas, Owls and bats are sighted.  The duration of the trip is about one hour.

Visit Rocky River Homestead, originally a small farm and now the National Park headquarters. This area is the winter breeding ground for the rare Cape Barren Goose, a species with a world population of under 8,000 individuals, and also home to a lot of kangaroos, wallabies, emus, koalas, platypus and many species of birds. Then it is on to Cape du Couedic on the southwest tip of the Island to visit a furseal colony for a walk among the seals. Nearly hunted to extinction late last century, this colony of over 4,000 seals is today thriving on being left alone by man.

Remarkable Rocks Kangaroo Island Adelaide Sample Custom Itinerary Australia

On the headland above the beach is a beautiful example of the lighthouses that dotted this coastline in earlier days, and it should be remembered that there was no road access here before 1940 and life was tough…supplies came by sea only every three months.

After visiting the Remarkable Rocks and enjoying a picnic lunch in the bush, explore more of the island and then return via Vivonne Bay, one of the breeding areas of the little Fairy Penguin. This is an excellent day out in among the natural things of the island and among its prolific wildlife. There will be the opportunity to see koalas in the trees, kangaroos in the wild and a host of other wildlife.  There will also be a chance to walk on the beach with Australian Sea Lions.

Your accommodation is included on Kangaroo Island. Dinner is included at your accommodation.

Day 3: Adelaide Sample Deluxe Itinerary.

Flight Back to Adelaide. City and Adelaide Hills Tour.

Flight back to Adelaide.
You will be transferred back to Kingscote Airport for the 30 minute flight back to Adelaide.

City Sights and Adelaide Hills Experience.
Your guide will collect you from the airport for a morning exploring the Adelaide City area and will tailor the time to suit your interests, and will be pleased to advise on locations to visit as part of the experience.

The Adelaide Hills Area, just to the east of the city, is a most picturesque area, and this trip will include visits to Mt Lofty, The Torrens Gorge, Hahndorf and the Mount Barker District. Lunch is included in the day’s outing.

Hahndorf Street Adelaide Sample Custom Itinerary Australia

Hahndorf is one of South Australia’s most popular tourist destinations, with many of the historic German style buildings still standing.  Many local artists and artisans work in a wide range of crafts, carrying on the tradition of famous Australian artist, Sir Hans Heysen.  His home, “The Cedars” is well preserved and shows a wonderful collection of his artwork. His studio nearby, today just as the artist left it, is still surrounded by the gum trees (eucalypts) that featured in many of his famous paintings. Return to the city and check in to your accommodation will be at about 5.00pm.

Accommodation is included at a centrally located suites hotel on North Terrace that offers contemporary, spacious rooms. There is a heated indoor pool, fitness center, restaurant and bar. Accommodation in Adelaide should, in our opinion, be on North Terrace, and this hotel has a ringside position, well located and with views and proximity to the riverfront and the park.

Alternative or Additional visit to the Barossa Valley Wineries.
Your guide will collect you from the airport on arrival for a day in the Wine Country to the north of Adelaide.  The Barossa Valley is world renowned and is often compared to the Napa Valley of California for its micro-climate.

Barossa Valley Vineyard Adelaide Sample Custom Itinerary Australia

The Barossa has been influenced strongly by German settlers and has over 50 wineries, many of which are open to the public. The harvest is between March and May though tastings and tours of vineyards and winemaking facilities are available year round. The Barossa is without question the most famous of the Australian wine regions and is a traveler’s delight with its strong German influence, stone buildings and picturesque scenery.

It is home to almost all of Australia’s largest wine companies, the most notable being Penfolds, Jacob’s Creek,  Seppelt, Orlando, Leo Buring, Wolf Blass and Yalumba, along with another thirty odd wineries of varying importance, including such well known names as Krondorf, Peter Lehmann, Tollana, Saltram and Basedow.

The valley-grown vintages are principally Riesling, Shiraz and Cabernet-Sauvignon, while many wineries use grapes from outside sources as well in the production of a wide range of other blends and varietals. You will be returned to the city to check in to your accommodation at about 6.00pm. Lunch is included in the day.

We are able to include other wine growing areas, or to completely omit viticulture depending on your interests.
