Can I work on a visitor visa?

No. The visitor visa does not include work rights. If you need to work, consider a Working Holiday visa or employer-sponsored visa.

Can I study on a visitor visa?

You can study for up to 3 months. For longer study, you need a student visa.

Overview

The Visitor visa lets you come to Australia for tourism, to visit family, or for short-term business activities. It does not allow you to work.

Streams

Tourist stream: For holidays, visiting family and friends, or other recreational activities. Usually granted for 3, 6, or 12 months.

Business Visitor stream: For attending conferences, meetings, or exploring business opportunities. You cannot perform productive work.

Sponsored Family stream: For visiting family members in Australia. Your family member must act as your sponsor.
